As the mother of four beautiful children, I remember well the joyful anticipation of the new life being knit together in my womb. Yes, there’s discomfort and fatigue, cravings and nausea—pregnancy isn’t for the faint of heart! But there’s also the wonder of a tiny foot moving across your abdomen, the excitement when you see him wave his little arm on the ultrasound, and the intense rush of emotion when she’s finally placed in your arms. Pain and pleasure are mixed equally in motherhood, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Laura and Brandon are expecting their first baby, and I was delighted when she wrote to me and asked if I would do their maternity pictures. She wanted a combination of rural and urban outdoor shots, and there’s no better place for that than Paris. It’s one of the most picturesque towns in Ontario, and Laura looked absolutely gorgeous in a flowing blue floral dress as Brandon (like so many new fathers!) carefully guided and supported her around the city. He’s really looking forward to being a dad, and it was clear almost immediately that Laura’s going to be an amazing mom—I felt so privileged to be able to record this special moment in their lives, and can’t wait to meet their beautiful little baby.
