There are some people who put you immediately at ease. You know them—they’re the pleasant, friendly, quiet-ish friends that invite confidence and comfort, no matter who you are or how you’re feeling. Laura and Jelle are just one of those couples, and that quality of easy hey-how-are-you was what made this day memorable.
We decided to go to Port Dover for their engagement pictures—if you haven’t been, you should! It’s a little lakeside town with picturesque shops and tidy beaches—basically a photographer’s dream! We walked over to the docks and a few other secluded spots—the light off the lake was soft and warm, and the reflection off the stream by the waterfall was perfect. It had its (minor) challenges--there were a ton of people out and about, all of them gawking at the beautiful girl and her handsome fiancé!--but they took it in their stride. It was touching to see how in love they are—their delight in each other’s company and playful give-and-take was infectious, and it was so much fun to be able to capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment for them.
